The sails are set: with its programme ‘Beyond the Sea’, the Vocalconsort Mainz is venturing into international waters. Whether Babylonian rivers, Swedish seas, Scottish lochs or the depths of the ocean – the music spans the spectrum from early Baroque vocal polyphony to modern a cappella arrangements, always following the water’s course. Stories of sailing, fishing and seafaring meet legends of bridges, stars and seaweed, whilst the waves murmur of separation, farewells and longing. And what actually lies beyond the seas? New worlds or the home port?
